Thursday Sept 11, 2008:
The morning started out at Caribou Coffee enjoying a Pumpkin Spice capaccino (which I highly recommend) while discussing the events of the recent week with my good friend George. I met George when our boys played baseball together several years at Heath Sertoma (HSYAA). We joined forces and ended up coaching a little league team for a couple of years together and have been friends since.
Anyways we decided we'd hookup at Caribou, recap the weeks activities and burn up some miles crusing around. We decided because of time restraints, we'd head east to Zanesville on 146, travel north on 93, then go west on 83 to Conesville where we'd catch 16 west to 60 north. From 16/60, we'd travel north to Wakatomika, Ohio to Tunnel Hill, and then catch 541 west to New Guilford, Ohio. From there we traveled west to Bladensburg and then on to Martinsburg, Ohio. From Martinsburg, we'd take St. Louisville Rd back to Martinsburg Rd back to Newark, Ohio (home).

All in all, it was a great ride with great company.
Weather was Sunny. Temps ranged starting out at 55 degrees and warmed to 89 degrees by rides end (2pm).
Road conditions:
St. Rt 93 (On scale of 1-10), ride was an 8. Road conditions are great. I'd highly recommend taking 93 starting at Zanesville, Ohio and travel north all the way to Sugarcreek, Ohio. This road is a blast to ride. I've riden this route twice at different entry points and love it. It has something for everyone which includes sweeping curves, twisties, beautiful vistas, and is very scenic. When traveling on this route, you will pass thru several small towns and occasionally run into Amish traveling along the same route in their horse drawn buggies & wagons. I would highly recommend traveling this route in the fall.
83 is a decent ride, but we experienced several dump trucks (and one noxious garbage truck) on this ride as we got closer to Conesville. Be aware. Once you get on 16, it is a rough bumpy ride that will jar you kidneys. Although it's a highway, it is very rough east of Dresden/Trimway all the way to Coshocton. Not fun.
Rt. 60 and 541 are both good rides. I definitely recommend 541 anytime. Lots of hills, twisties and open runs to really roll on the throttle.
All in all, we had rode about 3 hours and it was well worth it. A definite great Indian Summer day to ride.

Imagine my surprise when I visited your blog and saw photos of familiar places close to home! Great layout on the blog. It'll be great to hear ride reports of places close to home.

Hi Doug!
That was pretty much my reaction when I came across your blog last night. I was reading about the trip to Akron and the accident following and realized you all were with the group that rode with Ralph & Diane. I know Ron & Donna quite well. My family and I previously went to FFCC with these folks for close to 25 years.
Anyway, I'll be frequenting Cruising Ohio. Always like to hear what others are doing from our community.

Greetings from a fellow Ohioan. We certainly have had some fantastic riding weather.
Gotta love Ohio fall weather. This year has been especially nice. I'm gonna enjoy while it lasts.
