Hooked up this morning around 11am with my friend George to blow the cobwebs off the bikes today. Decided to change up & head south today away from our normal routes.
Day was sunny and 55-60 degrees. An added bonus was the fall leaves are slightly past peak, but still lots of color to enjoy, especially when traveling thru southern Ohio thru Wayne National Forest. Click here to see map link of entire ride.
Primary routes:
St. Rt 668 South from Brownsville to Somerset.
Road conditions - Excellent!
Rating 1-10: High 9. This road has several sweeping turns, meanders thru farmlands & woods and up & over hills. Has several decent twisties that you'll scrape the pegs if hit too tight & fast ;)
St. Rt 664 North from Logan to Thornville.
Rating 1-10: 8+ This route travels thru several small farm towns, thru some Amish communities, but is a blast because of the twisties, sweeping curves, and many hills to fly up & over. Great ride!
We took 16 east out of Newark to 668 where we turned south and rode all the way to Somerset, Ohio. From Somerset, we took 13 south to New Lexington and dog legged southwest on 93 thru New Straightsville, Ohio home of the annual Moonshine Festival. From there we traveled west over to Logan, Ohio and had a quick lunch.
Once we ate, we jumped on 33 north to Logan and onto 664 North all the way to 256 south of Thornville. Once on 256, we traveled east to 13 and north all the way to Newark, Ohio.

All in all, the ride took 3.5 hours, including fueling up & eating lunch. Absolute great day to ride! I recommend this loop if you want a variety of technical riding conditions, great scenery, and enjoy small towns to meander thru.
