My daughter Deonna and I went to Riverbend Music Center on Wednesday August 19th, 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio. This concert was outstanding! Four separate groups played sets including Saving Abel, Papa Roach, Hinder, and Nickelback, in this respective order. We left Nerk, ahia around 2:15pm and was in the parking lot by 5:15pm. After finding a parking spot, we proceeded to the gates where we had to empty our pockets and was patted down by concert security for weapons. Wow, been a long time, but I can't ever remember having been pat down.
After gaining entry we scoped out the venue for best seats. We bought lawn seats, which were fine, but visibility was obscured in 4 spots around the pavillion seating arena by steel support beams, so we setup to avoid those blind spots. At 6pm promptly, Saving Abel opened. Their set lasted 30 mins and a short intermission followed for about 10 minutes, which at that time Papa Roach opened their set, which lasted an hour. Again after a short intermission of about 15-25 mins, Hinder opened their set which lasted about 1-1.5 hours which then was followed by Nickelback, which set lasted 2 hours.
It was hot! It was humid! It got crowded! It rained! But wow......what a night!!! The music couldn't be better! At times it was chaotic as the bands fired up the crowd. Beer flowed. There was the ever present smell of dope in the air. Two fights broke out in front of Deonna and I half way thru the show. At one point a mosh pit emerged, but died down as quick. There were people of all ages enjoying the concert and grooving to the music. There were groupies, rednecks, dopers, and baby boomers. The F*&% word was a constant barrage to our ears from the bands as they entertained the crowd. There was grinding, jumping, and dancing. All in all, it was what you'd expect at a venue such as this. To cap it off, the music was loud and the pyrotechnics and stage & light effects were absolutely top notch! Best of all, I got to spend the evening together enjoying it with my daughter Deonna and you can't put a price on that!!
