It's been exactly 1 week since I last ran and this is the week of the Run For God 5k. I'm not prepared because I've not been able to consistently workout every week for the last 3 weeks, but never-the-less, I gotta do it. So today I figured I'd do the whole 5k (see run circuit below).
I did it although it took me roughly 53 minutes. Of course I actually did just shy of 6k so I figure that's not too bad for this old man. However, it was rough. I stopped at least every mile. The knees are taking a beating. My lungs are doing well after the 1st mile, but the knees hurt like hell by the 2nd mile. Still I run a mile, walk an 1/8th to 1/4 mile, and then do the next mile and repeat. At least I finished it and still was able to walk a 1/2 mile cooldown.
I'll wait until Wednesday and try again and hopefully improve on my timing slightly. I'd like to at least run the 5k in 45 minutes. I'll admit, it's a slow pace, but I'm doing it at all. Everything in me wants to stop this nonsense, but the little voice inside reminds me of a year ago when I decided I need to do something about my weight. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy!

After you survive your 5K, consider two wheels for the weight drop. It could get your weight down a bit without the jamming on the knees.
From another 40 something guy,
