I'm back! I ran a 5k today! This is a milestone I didn't think would happen for a while. After several months of working out indoors on a treadmill during the winter months, Spring is finally here, and I've begun to use the trails again around Licking county. While I didn't set any personal best records, never-the-less, I felt accomplished in being able to complete a 5k run.
Today I decided to visit the Buckeye Scenic Trail which originates in Heath, OH and goes to Lakewood H.S near Hebron, OH. To my surprise, I felt relatively good and began my run in this section of trail which is lightly used by the public at large. Overall it felt really good to be out enjoying this paved trail which is flat and weaves along thru agricultural areas. During my run other runners and bicyclists passed along side me enjoying the wonderful weather and the gorgeous spring blossoms. Overall, a top notch day to exercise. Not too warm or humid, but a nice 60 degree overcast weather day.
While on the trail I briefly talked with an individual who was in search of morel mushrooms. At this writing, he showed me one small morel mushroom he had found. I also was passed by several individuals on rucumbent bicycles whom I later talked with in the parking lot.
Overall, a great spring day and a personal goal accomplished.
