Ride into the Sunset

Saskachewan sunsetHooked up late this evening around 7:30pm with my close friend George for a cycle ride. He in turn, called his friend Tim, before I arrived, to join us as well. About 8pm we all hooked up, topped off the tanks at UDF and then hit the road. Absolutely great weather this evening. Temperature was around 65-70 degrees. Headed south out of town on St. Rt. 13 to Linnville Pike and took it south to St. Rt. 40. From there we traveled east and caught 668 South. out of Brownsville. Now I've ridden Linnville Pike many times and it's a nice road with sweeping curves, a few nice hill climbs, and no traffic lights. Average speed was between 50 - 70mph all the way to St. Rt 40. Old 40 was kind of uneventful all the way to Brownsville until we caught 668 south. Haven't been on 668 for years, and the last time was with my family in the family van to old Golden Rule Campground. Been about 22 years ago if memory serves correct.

St. Rt 668 is a great road with lots of sweeping curves, some tight twisties, and long stretches that climb over rolling hills through farm country and woods. Very nice ride that put my riding skills to the test and shook out the cobwebs in the old noggin. We ended up stopping at the intersection of 668 and 204, which travels east to west. By this time the temperature had dropped to around low 60s. After resting for a few minutes to add a fleece pullover under my Bike jacket and putting my earbuds in for my MP3 player, we decided to travel west on 204 toward Thornville. This was an absolute awesome ride. By this time it was getting dark and their was a brilliant fire & orange sunset that was awesome to ride into. To top it off, I was listening to Worship & Praise music, which set the tone & turned this into an unforgettable ride with good company. To top it off we ended up at Caribou Coffee and enjoyed the company of other fellow riders that was out for an evening ride on their Harleys.

Now I can add this into the history books that I rode off into the sunset on my iron horse. Gotta love it!
